JUDITH A GRIMES was born in Nambour, Queensland where she lived on a sugar cane farm. Her education commenced in Nambour and continued in Brisbane, Darwin, Hawaii and mainland United States of America. Judith has a doctorate in Botany and Range Science, specializing in aquatic ecology. She has worked as an Analytical Chemist, Medical Technologist and Environmental Scientist. She has taught Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Science at High Schools.

Judy is the author of many scientific papers and books that include family and local histories. Her love of family and history combined has led to a deep commitment to family history. Judith has taught genealogy courses for thirty years. When asked to establish a genealogical centre in Maryborough, she became the Director of the Maryborough Family Heritage Institute, which covers family history, tourism, publishing and education under the one organization. Her recent books cover local, district and shire histories in Nanango, Wooroolin, Kingaroy and Memerambi.
